What to Know About the Nursing Job Market in 2026.

The need for nurses isn’t slowing down anytime soon. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics’ Employment Projections 2022–2032, the RN workforce is projected to grow by about 6% over the next decade—adding roughly 177,000 new nurses and creating an estimated 193,000 openings each year as others retire or move on.

Across hospitals, schools, correctional and psychiatric facilities, and in-home settings, skilled nurses are more in demand than ever. At VyTalent Solutions, we help you find a position that fits your expertise and your energy—roles where respect, purpose, and balance all align.

Healthcare is changing fast, but the people behind it remain constant. Whether you’re an RN, LPN/LVN, or a specialized nurse, we’ll connect you to options that work with your goals and your life. Because when nurses are supported, care gets stronger everywhere.

Ask any nurse—no two shifts are ever the same. You’re reading charts one minute and reassuring a patient the next. You’re part problem-solver, part listener, part lifeline. That mix of precision and heart is what makes nursing extraordinary.
Registered nurses take on a wide range of responsibilities, including:

  • Monitoring patient health and vital signs
  • Administering medications and coordinating treatment plans
  • Providing patient and family education
  • Collaborating with interdisciplinary care teams
  • Offering emotional support and crisis intervention
  • Documenting care and maintaining accurate health records

VyTalent Solutions partners with organizations that see your work for what it is: essential. From patient education and medication management to the countless small moments that define real care, we’ll help you find a team that values both your skill and your spirit.

Most registered nurses (RNs) start their careers by completing an Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) and passing the NCLEX-RN exam. Licensed practical nurses (LPNs/LVNs) complete state-approved programs and pass the NCLEX-PN to provide essential bedside care under RN or physician supervision.

At VyTalent Solutions, we believe education is just the beginning. Many of our partner facilities support continuing education and specialty certifications, helping nurses stay competitive, confident, and prepared for what’s next. Because thriving in your career shouldn’t mean choosing between growth and balance. You deserve both.

“Efficient, professional, and delightful.””

Working with this staffing agency was efficient, professional, and delightful. My recruiter was especially attentive, communicative, and ensured that I was placed with a client where my skills, experience, and expertise would be best aligned and was extremely supportive during the on-boarding process.

— Tamaro H, Registered Nurse

REGISTERED NURSE JOB FAQS

Ask Away. We’ve Heard It All.

You’ll need either an Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) to become an RN. After that, passing the NCLEX-RN exam earns you your license. Some employers—especially hospitals or leadership roles—may ask for a BSN. Once you’re licensed, VyTalent can help you find RN jobs that fit your background, goals, and the kind of care you love to provide.

Pretty much anywhere people need care. Hospitals, schools, clinics, correctional and psychiatric facilities, home health agencies, and long-term care centers all rely on registered nurses. VyTalent works with organizations across all of these settings to help you find the right role—one that matches your specialty, your schedule, and your lifestyle.

Pay can vary a lot depending on where you work, your experience, and your specialty. According to data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, most registered nurses earn somewhere around $96,000 a year on average. Nurses in areas like critical care, surgical services, or travel positions often see higher rates. VyTalent helps you explore roles that line up with your financial goals—and the kind of impact you want to make.

We do. VyTalent has per diem, part-time, full-time, and travel RN jobs so you can choose what fits your life best. While most roles involve in-person patient care, some positions, like telehealth or case management, offer remote or hybrid flexibility. We’ll help you find the setup that keeps your work and life in balance.

Both are essential to great care, but the training and responsibilities aren’t quite the same. Registered nurses (RNs) usually hold an ADN or BSN and handle care planning, medication management, and coordination with physicians. Licensed Practical or Vocational Nurses (LPNs/LVNs) complete a shorter, one-year program and focus on direct bedside care under an RN or doctor’s supervision.

Yes. To keep your nursing license active, most states require continuing education (CE) hours on a regular basis. Many RNs also choose to earn specialty certifications—such as ACLS, PALS, or wound care—to strengthen their skills and open doors to new roles.

At VyTalent, we believe your growth should never come out of your own pocket. If you’d like certification or training costs reimbursed, we can include that in your pay package. Just let your recruiting manager know what’s coming up, and we’ll make sure your professional development is built right into your plan.
