Behavioral & Mental Health Job Outlook and Growth Projections for 2026.

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, behavioral and mental health roles are projected to grow 17% by 2034—much faster than the average for other fields. The world is finally catching up to what you’ve known all along: Mental health is healthcare.

Hospitals, schools, correctional facilities, and community programs are expanding behavioral health services faster than ever. That means more opportunity for professionals like you, the people who bring empathy, patience, and courage to every interaction.

VyTalent Solutions connects behavioral and psychology professionals with teams that share their mission: To make care more human, more proactive, and more sustainable.

Behavioral and mental health professionals play a VyTal role in supporting patients through challenges like addiction, anxiety, trauma, and behavioral disorders. It’s hands-on, human work—part science, part compassion.

Your day-to-day may include:

  • Conducting assessments and developing care plans
  • Providing counseling and behavioral therapy
  • Monitoring patient progress and updating treatment goals
  • Coordinating with physicians, social workers, and educators
  • Assisting in crisis intervention and de-escalation
  • Guiding patients and families toward long-term recovery resources

VyTalent Solutions partners with organizations that see your role for what it is: The heart of patient-centered care. Because supporting others starts with being supported yourself.

Most roles require a bachelor’s degree in psychology, counseling, or social work, while licensed therapists typically hold a master’s degree and complete supervised clinical hours. Licensure is typically required, especially for clinical practice, and includes a national exam and ongoing education to stay current.

At VyTalent Solutions, we connect you with employers who value your expertise and help you keep growing long after graduation. Because great care starts with people who never stop learning.

“Above and beyond.”

I’ve had the pleasure of working with my recruiter for the past few years, and I can’t recommend VyTalent Solutions enough. My recruiter goes above and beyond—checking in regularly, ensuring I have everything I need. She makes sure I feel supported, even when I’m far away. She’s truly a standout in her field, and I’m so grateful to have her in my corner.

Behavioral & Mental Health Jobs FAQS

Ask Away. We’ve Heard It All.

Behavioral and mental health covers a wide range of roles, from therapists to psychiatric nurses, social workers, and case managers. Each plays a different part in helping patients manage emotions, behaviors, and overall well-being.

Licensing depends on the type of role and the level of care you’ll be providing. Therapists usually need a state license or national certification, while positions such as techs or health aids often only require a degree in psychology or hands-on experience in the field.

Behavioral health careers stretch across almost every type of care setting. You’ll see professionals working in hospitals, outpatient programs, schools, community centers, and correctional facilities. Many also support patients remotely through telehealth or crisis response programs.

Most professionals focus on supporting patients through treatment and recovery. That can include assessing needs, developing care plans, leading therapy sessions, documenting progress, and working closely with physicians, nurses, and families.

We do. VyTalent works with facilities nationwide that need short-term and long-term support. Some contracts last a few weeks, others several months. If you want more control over where and when you work, our team can help you find assignments that fit your lifestyle.

In many cases, yes. Entry-level roles like behavioral health technician, health aid, or support specialist often require a bachelor’s degree or relevant experience rather than a graduate degree. For licensed therapy positions, a master’s is usually required.

It’s easy. Look through our open positions or send your resume our way. Once we connect, your recruiter will get to know you—your background, interests, and the kind of setting you want to work in—then help you land a role that fits.
